Hypnosis to help stop smoking, lose weight, overcome anxiety or any other unwanted habit

What is hypnosis?

Have you ever lost yourself in a good book? Have you ever driven home and not remembered the actual journey? Have you day-dreamed? That’s hypnosis. Hypnosis is a state of intense concentration and in a clinical setting the concentration is on relaxation. Hypnosis is an individual experience. The most common experience of feeling very relaxed it may be the first time your mind and body can relax together in harmony. When you are nicely relaxed, the conscious mind drifts off allowing the subconscious mind to open up. In this state, well worded positive suggestions are given to undo a bad habit and create a good habit. When a habit is removed it must always be replaced with something more positive, more beneficial for you.

The subconscious can only accept one change at a time so it is important to be specific and focused on just one area at a time.

In hypnosis you can choose to change or re-create your perceptions and beliefs of yourself to create a reality by choice, not mere acceptance of what you think you must believe and accept. Habits are conditioned responses. What is learned can be unlearned and what is programmed can be reprogrammed. That is all that is happening, as a hypnotherapist, I assist the client in devising another way of doing or acting or saying.

Fears and Misconceptions?

  • Hypnosis is sleep. Tests have confirmed that unlike sleep during which your whole system slows down, when in hypnosis the body operates at an awake level, thereby, confirming that you are not actually asleep.

  • You do not lose control. You are the one in total control. If a suggestion is given that is against your moral well being you would immediately be startled out of hypnosis.
  • You may have a fear of what to do when your habit is gone. We all benefit from secondary gains whatever the problem. How will you now gain this attention/benefit?
  • Some people worry about getting stuckĀ in hypnosis. There is no such thing. I will always bring you back to full awareness even though you will want to stay in hypnosis because it is so relaxing!
  • Perhaps you worry that you will be dancing like a chicken in the office because that is what happens at a stage show. Please do not judge hypnotherapy by what you have seen on stage shows. Stage hypnotism is a craft in itself with a heavy reliance on those members of the audience who want the cloak of hypnosis to become uninhibited.

It can be quite incredible for me to suggest that you can lose weight, stop smoking, reduce your stress levels just by closing your eyes and relaxing. However, the results will speak for themselves.
