Impotence: physical or emotional?
Whether your impotence is caused by a loss of sexual desire or you unable to achieve an erection, hypnotherapy we can deal with any psychosomatic issues that are impairing your ability to perform sexually. Impotence, loss of erection, premature ejaculation are upsetting.
Impotence may have started as stress related or due to an over consumption of alcohol. All your mind can think about is what if this happens again. Anxiety and panic develop and compromise your sexual performance. Anxiety performance results. And the cycle continues. Anxiety exacerbates the situation.
You become more agitated and begin to avoid sexual situations. Avoidance makes it worse but your thoughts are not helping and each time you fail to achieve or lose your erection, you feel worse. These emotions need to be dealt with.
What’s going on with my thoughts?
While impotence or sexual dysfunction can affect confidence, it is important to understand that your thoughts are more the likely causing the issue. You anticipate failure, and when the experience presents itself, you get what you expected. You are stuck inside your head.
What is happening that your anxiety provoking thoughts are releasing the stress hormone in the body. This triggers the fight or flight response. This means non-essential work is shut down to enable blood to flow to where it is needed – arms and legs not your penis.
Erections require a good blood supply. The only way to do this is to lower the stress hormone cortisol. You need excitement and to be in touch with your sexual desire.
Virility and sexual prowess is very much tied to self confidence. This needs to be addressed. Boosting your self esteem and stopping the negative thoughts from interfering with your pleasure.
Sex is a natural process. It is a go with the flow act, being in the moment, feeling the other person’s body next to yours and working together to become one and achieve pleasure.
Is depression causing impotence or impotence causing depression?
If your sexual difficulties are causing a depressive state or may be due to a depressive state, hypnotherapy can help to deal with any aspects of what is going on inside you.
In the relaxed state of hypnosis, our therapy is focused on letting go of what keeps you locked in your mind, deal with your fears and develop for your mind how you want to be and what it would mean to you to be able to get on with having sex.
Once there is no physiological issue, then it must be in the mind causing this upset. To calm the body and body so we need to get the blood flowing to your genitals. .
All the consultations are one to one.
There is no need for your partner to attend although I may prescribe activities to be done together in the comfort of your own bedroom if you partner is supportive. We are, at the same time, dealing with any stress management issues and stopping “I can’t” thoughts.
Where your mind goes, your body will follow and it is that ability to let go which will help you in a sexual setting so you can be in the moment rather than feeling self conscious. If you want to improve, then you will improve. There is no need for tablets, no visual aids, just you getting out of your mind.
