Stop Smoking

A decision is not a preference. It is a commitment. It is deciding to cut something from your life and/or embrace a new way of thinking or doing. Decisions must be followed by action. Doing what you always did will produce the same results. Do something different.

Take a habit like smoking. Hypnosis and NLP help to make the part of you that wants to stop smoking strong and at the same address the fears of the smoking part of - one client’s query was ‘what is different about this time’.   Focus on your decision to stop smoking and take control of your choice. What does it mean to you to be free from the hold of nicotine? What does quitting smoking mean to you?  If you associate quitting cigarettes with being irritable, miserable etc.  Then these are the emotions and the state you will be in.  Will power is not necessary you have to be happy about your decision.

Now what are you going to do to be successful in your decision to stop smoking. You may decide to call me to help you to stay focused on this goal and to help that part of you that may still want to smoke take on a new role.  To take the positive intent of smoking and use it in a way that is positive for you.

Perhaps you tried in the past to stop smoking. What did you learn? What possible pitfalls do we need to attention to at session. Hypnosis in itself is a relaxation, you are fully aware of what is going on around but you are more interested in what is going on inside you.

How will your life be better being a non smoker? How will your life be worse? The purpose of hypnosis to help you to give up cigarettes and stay a non smoker.  The subconscious is where all our automatic responses to life exist. This is why you may be smoking without consciously realising the actions you took to have the cigarette in your mouth.

Hypnosis is not about you closing your eyes and hey presto, you give up cigarettes. It is about looking inside yourself and understanding why you are not the same person as when you started to smoke. You worked to learn how to smoke and now you are working to stop smoking. As it is a learned behaviour it can be unlearned – no matter how long you have smoked. There are a couple of areas that we address in the session – when you first started to smoke, your first cigarette of the day and your favourite cigarette of the day. I am also helping you with your stress responses to situations so there is never a need to smoke again. Smoking rarely, if ever, enters you mind. As with any change the first 21 days are critical but you have the resources within yourself to remain smokefree. But you must be ready to stop smoking.  You must want to quit smoking for you.
