Fear of Flying

With hypnosis to help overcome your fear of flying in just one session, you can learn to enjoy flying, maybe again or for the first time.  Visualisation techniques are used to help you experience flying in a state where you anxiety and panic are not taking over.  How many times have you relied on alcohol or prescription medication to help get through the flight.  Then you find that your holiday is ruined as the anxiety in relation to the flying begins midway through your holiday and as the years have gone by, your time of enjoyment is actually reducing.  Perhaps you don’t fly at all.  No amount of pushing from family and friends will persuade you otherwise that flying is something you must do.

So what’s happening – your subconscious mind primary function is to protect you.  So the idea of flying in a cylinder is not appealing – where is your escape.  At least on a boat you could swim to safety in the event of an emergency (the fact that you may not be able to swim does not factor in your subconscious) but it wants an outcome.  This is true for people who would tend to be cautious. 

For others, I have noticed that flying, because it is not done regularly, can be used to funnel general anxieties that cannot be realised in everyday life.  You can hold it together until flying.  There was no identifying event to cause panic and anxiety. 

Yet more clients, would have control issues – you cannot direct the plane, you cannot see what the pilot sees.  You have to depend on someone else.  This can be very hard but using hypnosis to help overcome fear of flying, you can “learn” to accept that sometime someone else is capable of being in control.

In a typical session, your panic and anxiety is simulated in the safety of the office.  This is important so that you know you can control the rise in panic and identify when exactly it begins.  This varies from person to person.  Let’s look at fear – False Expectation Appearing Real.
