Negative Self Talk and Hypnosis

Part of the process in changing over from negative to positive self talk is at a conscious level.  When you feel bad about yourself and are self critical, I’d like you to ask yourself the following questions:

Negative self talk – “I am ……..” or “I feel…..” (fill in the dots)

Let us challenge this:

What proves this?  Please list.

Is it always true for you?

Does it promote positive feelings about yourself?

For example, while you may feel “panic” – does this define you as being powerless?

Self hypnosis is a great way to relax and perhaps relax mentally and physically in a way you have never experienced before.  All hypnosis is self hypnosis whether in the office with me or at home.  I am your guide.  There is no right or wrong.  Everyone feels different.  But the experience is of feeling really, really relaxed.  When you are nice and relaxed, recall some events that made you feel good, however fleeting, and notice where you feel them and say to yourself “I am a unique human being and I love myself”.  If you don’t love or even like yourself – how do you expect others to?  Again, it is all about practice.  Last thing at night and on wakening, think of two nice things about yourself.  Programme yourself to have a good day while brushing your teeth.  Give yourself permission to feel good and to think good thoughts.  If something goes wrong – what was good about it?  Look for the positive.  Seek and you shall find.  Thinking positive is very hard work because we are programmed into negative thinking.  If the news bothers you, switch it off.  Look forward to a great 2009.
