Fear of Flying and Hypnosis

Fear of flying in my experience has very little to do with planes and flying – it can be the fear of loss of control or indeed, allowing your fears and anxiety about something else funnel into flying because it is not something that is done regularly.  In working with me, you are learning how to control your anxiety with regard to flying.  All hypnosis is self hypnosis – I am just your tour guide to the  working of your mind and how by creating the right set of circumstances you make any change you want.  Hypnosis is a guided relaxation so that you can access the power of your subconscious where you can make the changes you want to make.

We need to look at where it begins for you and how it manifests in your body.  Because it is rare to be actually about fear of planes.  Your subconscious mind, in an effort to protect you, will focus your anxiety onto something like flying so that you can cope in your everyday situation and then when it comes to going on a trip – your subconscious mind allows the anxiety to build and the focus is on the plane.  Fear is not a bad thing – it allows you to react appropriately to protect yourself but when anxiety (which is more about anticipation of something bad happening) associates to a fear then a phobia is born.   With hypnosis we are alleviating the anxiety with regard to the fear of flying.
