			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1529" title="standing on chair afraid" src="http://zitastanley.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/standing-on-chair-afraid.gif" alt="" width="61" height="116" />How does hypnosis help to you relieve the anxiety of stammering?  For adults and children alike, stammering can have detrimental effects on self esteem and confidence.  Problems will be with certain letters and try as you might to avoid them, you will at some time have to use the words.  Avoidence is not a solution and will actually add to the anxiety when you do have finally use the word.  Hypnosis can help to get rid of the fear associated with speaking in front of others.</p>
<p>Hypnosis works by concentrating on the problem letters and find a solution.  Did you know that sufferers do not stammer while in hypnosis?  It is because they are in a relaxed state.  Anxiety and panic and &#8220;seeing&#8221; the difficulty with the word make life difficult.  Blushing will become part of the panic.  So, now you are dealing with the stammering, panic and blushing!</p>
<p>The most wonderful &#8220;side effect&#8221; of hypnosis is the relaxation element.  The subconscious mind is being programmed to be in a relaxed and calm state while using the problem letters.  What I like to do with clients is to make a sentence with the words beginning with the problem letters (if it is the start of words that causes the problem).  The client repeats the statement over and over easily and gently &#8211; the purpose is a confidence boost from saying the words with problem letters and most importantly a signal to the subconscious mind &#8211; being relaxed with the letters.  Efforts are made a word pacing &#8211; the desire to &#8220;get the words over with&#8221; may trigger you to talk very fast.  Whether excited or anxious, the focus is on speaking clearly and easily with a confident delivery.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During an session with me, one of the checks that must be done is what is called an &#8220;ecological check&#8221;.  You want to change some habit whether it is stop smoking, stop over-eating, lose weight, stop biting nails, overcome fear etc.  But are the people in your life ready for you to change.  Have you noticed that if lose weight some friends will feel threatened by it to the point of telling you that you look ill or &#8220;encourage&#8221; you to have more cake.  Or for the smoker, trying to tempt you with cigarettes by blowing smoke in your face or leaving you out of conversations.  This is something you need to think about and how you feel now that your position within your group changes.  Although not everyone will welcome the change, others will delight in your success.  You need to ensure that you are strong enough to deal with the &#8220;downside&#8221; of your positive change.  This is peer pressure even in your 30s and 40s.  You have dared to be different, to stand up and make a change. </p>
<p>Be strong and brave.  There&#8217;s a new world out there for a new you.  Awareness that not everyone will be delighted with the change will give you strength.  You will be tested but you will be strong and delight in your resolve to continue and maintain your change. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have you ever noticed that your mood affects how you view things?  If you are feeling happy then everything has a positive slant, you can even see something positive from something negative.  If, however, you are in a low mood (not depressed) but not feeling on top of things, then the universe seems to put more and more obstacles in your way.  Thoughts like &#8220;typical, it always happens to me&#8221;, &#8220;serves me right for doing I was doing something right&#8221; will not improve your mood or lift your spirits.  Hypnotherapy helps you become aware of the power of your thoughts and your self thoughts.  If you don&#8217;t feel good about yourself, that comes across in your tone of voice, how you hold yourself.  For others, you can put on &#8220;a front&#8221;, the energy expended not being true to yourself is unreal and they end up feeling worn out and burnt physically and mentally.</p>
<p>When you hear the little voice instead your head telling you that you&#8217;re not good enough or who did you think you are &#8211; hypnotherapy and NLP can help you create a STOP sign in your mind so that you can silence the voice and change the thoughts have held you back.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In a typical stop smoking with hypnosis &#8211; one of the questions I ask is:</p>
<p>&#8220;what benefit do you get from smoking?&#8221;</p>
<p>EVERYONE answers &#8220;none&#8221;.  But there must be some benefit otherwise you wouldn&#8217;t smoke.  While in a deeper trance, I ask the question again &#8211; responses will vary from &#8220;it helps me with stress&#8221;, &#8220;I feel more confident with a cigarette in my hand&#8221;, &#8220;it stops me getting fat&#8221;.  With these answers, the client is recognising the benefit cigarettes and smoking has been giving them.  With all hypnosis, the wonderful side effect is relaxation, it will be the only time your mind and body will relax totally.  Suggestions on deep breathing and visualisation techniques on stress reducing or stress proving the client&#8217;s life will be added or confidence building techniques.  With regards to the weight &#8211; again we do not substitute one oral habit with another, we look at why the client may think they will gain weight if they stop smoking.</p>
<p>In a stop smoking with hypnosis session, the more exploration into the client&#8217;s fears of stopping smoking is done, the better the result.</p>
<p>Then we move into the future pacing stage, seeing yourself free from cigarettes, you are a non-smoker and you look and feel great.  You are so proud that you have regained control of your habits and have taken responsibility to remaining and staying a non-smoker.   (Hypnotherapists prefer the term &#8220;smokefree&#8221; &#8211; the positive of non-smoker).</p>
<p>With an image of how you want and desire to be free from cigarettes, a image begins to form inside your mind, just a like a photograph developing, darker at first and then images become more clear until it is so bright and full of colour that you can feel that excitement of having lovely skin, smelling nice, feeling so proud of yourself.  Get that image forming now you are full of energy, breathing is easier, you look great and feel fantastic.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You know that you can have insight and be logical about your problem but it doesn&#8217;t seem to make any difference to the blushing, anxiety, stress with attempts to stop smoking, lose weight etc.  Why?  Because we reason with the logical part of the mind and the hurt that prompted the problem in the first place is in your subconscious mind!  The only way to access your subconscious mind is with the use of hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a deep relaxation where you are fully aware but are just so relaxed you keep you eyes closed.  When in this relaxed state, the conscious mind drifts and you are fully aware but just more interested in what is going on inside you.  This can help you to overcome your problem &#8211; we find the cause and make it lose its effect!  For suggestion therapy, for stop smoking, wart removal or any of the more habit problems, when you are relaxed, suggestions are offered to the subconscious about new ways of looking at what used to be a problem for you.</p>
<p>Only your subconscious mind knows what caused the problem in the first place and only your subconscious mind can make the change.  But it is not a magic pill or cure.  It is about empowering you.  Internal acceptance and validation help you to become the person you really want to be.  There is no dependant relationship with me.  Solution focused therapy is the method I use so that you are in therapy for the shortest time possible maximum 12 weeks.  That is because we start with your goal and work towards it whether it is to feel relaxed in social situations, relaxed being a non smoker, more confident and assertive &#8211; with hypnosis you can your own magic happen and it is a tool for life.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Whatever change you want to make, you need some form of motivation or otherwise you would not change.  Make change is never easy whether it is to stop smoking, lose weight, get focused on the job you want, motivation to set up your own business, gain confidence you will need some help.  Hypnosis is such a focused tool at your disposal to give you laser focus on what you want.  Hypnosis helps to concentrate your mind on that one change.  Remember, you can only work on one change at a time (that&#8217;s why New Year Resolutions fail &#8211; we try too many changes and achieve nothing).  Listening to a hypnotic CD/MP3 reminds your subconscious mind that you want to change.  The theory is to make change permanent it takes 21 days for it to be fully absorbed by the subconscious mind.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hypnotherapy is therapy carried out under hypnosis which essentially allows you to make change very quickly.  The focus is the one change you wish to make in your life and a short, concise and focused therapy to help you build your self reliance.  You gain the opportunity to harness the new and re-ignited skills within yourself in the future.  It is about raising your self belief that you can be stop smoking, lose weight, get the great job you want, have a family, find a partner, overcome depression and anxiety, stop blushing or whatever change you wish to make.</p>
<p>You must want to make the change and believe that change for you is possible &#8211; you don&#8217;t have to believe in the process but be open minded.  Expect positive change and look forward to positive change!  Take a moment right now to write down goals for each area of your life &#8211; let&#8217;s face it, if you were content as you are now you wouldn&#8217;t be reading this.  Write down the categories &#8211; lifestyle, health, family, relationships, financial, educational &#8211; whatever areas are in your life.  Then list the goals or aspirations you have in each category.  Now the most important is to timeline them so you see at a glance what the most pressing issue is for you.  Hypnosis is great to help clarify our thoughts and organize the areas in your life.</p>
<p>Then set out the tasks you need to take to make each goal a reality &#8211; do you have to connect with someone, do you have do a course, do you have _________?  Again set out a to-do list with these.  Remember the day is not over until you can tick off everything on your life.  Life being life, no doubt you may be thrown a curve ball but re-arrange the timeline &#8211; it&#8217;s not set in stone but don&#8217;t let things slide because of laziness.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When you are feeling unsure of yourself and negative thoughts are roaming around your mind &#8211; do they have a voice?  (And I don&#8217;t mind auditory hallucinations).  Turn up the volume and listen closely &#8211; is your voice but not your words, do you recognise the voice? No doubt if you recognise the voice it will be a significant adult from when you were a child, an overcritical parent, a frightening teacher or whoever.  Childhood and around the age 6/7 we &#8220;learn&#8221; to feel bad about ourselves.  At school everything must be uniform i.e. the same &#8211; don&#8217;t stand out, dress the same as everyone, do this now, do it this way.  We learn that some will be better than others at different tasks &#8211; compare and see how you are?  Negative comments about underperforming in school.  Children learn in different ways and at different speeds.  What messages did you receive about you?</p>
<p>Do you remember waiting anxiously for the school report in the summer?  How would your parents react?  Tension and anxiousness and from what age?  &#8211; 9/10/11 earlier?</p>
<p>This is why we &#8220;learn&#8221; to dread/fear performance situations whether it is addressing a group at work, going for interview, meeting someone new &#8211; we bring all the tensions and anxieties about performance received as a child and we are in reality reverting to that scared little child, waiting for the approval/disapproval of the &#8220;adult&#8221;.</p>
<p>What was learned can be re-learned to a more productive way of behaving.  Self help and hypnotherapy can help you undo this damage but only if you really want to.  Some people may be happy to continue living in their comfort zone while logically &#8220;trying&#8221; to change themselves.  These people are going through the motions because there is a contentment in knowing and staying where you are now.  Change is fear but necessary fear to move forward to no longer stay in a quagmire but really to embrace change and changing fear to excitement because you can do that. Anxiety and excitement have the same root it just depends on which route you take.</p>
