			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1529" title="standing on chair afraid" src="http://zitastanley.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/standing-on-chair-afraid.gif" alt="" width="61" height="116" />How does hypnosis help to you relieve the anxiety of stammering?  For adults and children alike, stammering can have detrimental effects on self esteem and confidence.  Problems will be with certain letters and try as you might to avoid them, you will at some time have to use the words.  Avoidence is not a solution and will actually add to the anxiety when you do have finally use the word.  Hypnosis can help to get rid of the fear associated with speaking in front of others.</p>
<p>Hypnosis works by concentrating on the problem letters and find a solution.  Did you know that sufferers do not stammer while in hypnosis?  It is because they are in a relaxed state.  Anxiety and panic and &#8220;seeing&#8221; the difficulty with the word make life difficult.  Blushing will become part of the panic.  So, now you are dealing with the stammering, panic and blushing!</p>
<p>The most wonderful &#8220;side effect&#8221; of hypnosis is the relaxation element.  The subconscious mind is being programmed to be in a relaxed and calm state while using the problem letters.  What I like to do with clients is to make a sentence with the words beginning with the problem letters (if it is the start of words that causes the problem).  The client repeats the statement over and over easily and gently &#8211; the purpose is a confidence boost from saying the words with problem letters and most importantly a signal to the subconscious mind &#8211; being relaxed with the letters.  Efforts are made a word pacing &#8211; the desire to &#8220;get the words over with&#8221; may trigger you to talk very fast.  Whether excited or anxious, the focus is on speaking clearly and easily with a confident delivery.</p>

Or perhaps you are in  a queue to talk &#8211; your mind is just focused and when it&#8217;s your turn, you don&#8217;t even hear what is being said, just feeling your heart pumping out of your chest, your mouth dry, feeling shaky&#8230;..then it&#8217;s your turn and you talk so fast just to get it over with?  Does it make you feel good?  Perhaps your shakes continues as the excess adrenaline tries to find its way out of your body. </p>
<p>There is another way &#8211; how many times have you noticed someone &#8220;I wish I was like them&#8221; &#8211; they look confident and poised.  You are engaged by them. With hypnosis (for the relaxation) and NLP (for the creativity and visualisation) you can control your heart rate, your posture.  You can learn to be like this other person. You are interrupting the stress response in the body.  With hypnosis we look for when your trigger occurs &#8211; is it on hearing about the presentation, is it while you are waiting, is it just as you open your mouth to speak?  We also look for the sign you need to know that everything is okay &#8211; is it when the first few words come out strong, is it the way you keep your body in control.  With stress/panic, the initial feeling is of lack of control, you feel overwhelmed but you can learn to control these feelings for you.  To recognise the butterflies in your stomach as excitement rather than fear.  To be able to see things from your &#8220;audience&#8221; perspective.  To be able to relax talking in front of others with your mind clear and able to respond to any questions because now you are listening and concentrating on the person asking the question.  In this way you give the best of yourself and grow in confidence at your new found ability to talk freely and at ease.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You know that you can have insight and be logical about your problem but it doesn&#8217;t seem to make any difference to the blushing, anxiety, stress with attempts to stop smoking, lose weight etc.  Why?  Because we reason with the logical part of the mind and the hurt that prompted the problem in the first place is in your subconscious mind!  The only way to access your subconscious mind is with the use of hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a deep relaxation where you are fully aware but are just so relaxed you keep you eyes closed.  When in this relaxed state, the conscious mind drifts and you are fully aware but just more interested in what is going on inside you.  This can help you to overcome your problem &#8211; we find the cause and make it lose its effect!  For suggestion therapy, for stop smoking, wart removal or any of the more habit problems, when you are relaxed, suggestions are offered to the subconscious about new ways of looking at what used to be a problem for you.</p>
<p>Only your subconscious mind knows what caused the problem in the first place and only your subconscious mind can make the change.  But it is not a magic pill or cure.  It is about empowering you.  Internal acceptance and validation help you to become the person you really want to be.  There is no dependant relationship with me.  Solution focused therapy is the method I use so that you are in therapy for the shortest time possible maximum 12 weeks.  That is because we start with your goal and work towards it whether it is to feel relaxed in social situations, relaxed being a non smoker, more confident and assertive &#8211; with hypnosis you can your own magic happen and it is a tool for life.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Whatever change you want to make, you need some form of motivation or otherwise you would not change.  Make change is never easy whether it is to stop smoking, lose weight, get focused on the job you want, motivation to set up your own business, gain confidence you will need some help.  Hypnosis is such a focused tool at your disposal to give you laser focus on what you want.  Hypnosis helps to concentrate your mind on that one change.  Remember, you can only work on one change at a time (that&#8217;s why New Year Resolutions fail &#8211; we try too many changes and achieve nothing). <p>You must want to make the change and believe that change for you is possible &#8211; you don&#8217;t have to believe in the process but be open minded.  Expect positive change and look forward to positive change!  Take a moment right now to write down goals for each area of your life &#8211; let&#8217;s face it, if you were content as you are now you wouldn&#8217;t be reading this.  Write down the categories &#8211; lifestyle, health, family, relationships, financial, educational &#8211; whatever areas are in your life.  Then list the goals or aspirations you have in each category.  Now the most important is to timeline them so you see at a glance what the most pressing issue is for you.  Hypnosis is great to help clarify our thoughts and organize the areas in your life.</p>
<p>Then set out the tasks you need to take to make each goal a reality &#8211; do you have to connect with someone, do you have do a course, do you have _________?  Again set out a to-do list with these.  Remember the day is not over until you can tick off everything on your life.  Life being life, no doubt you may be thrown a curve ball but re-arrange the timeline &#8211; it&#8217;s not set in stone but don&#8217;t let things slide because of laziness.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Any self help that uses hypnosis is going to be more successful.  Why?  Because you must tackle the underlying issues and they are usually anxiety based or a fear that stops you from being the best you can be.  Hypnotherapy is therapy using hypnosis to help you make changes a change at a subconscious level.  This is where the problem started and as one could, you must &#8220;return to the scene of crime&#8221;.  This return is to help you let go, release unresolved upset, even guilt.  Then you rebuild and look forward knowing that the past no longer has a hold over you.  All hypnosis is self hypnosis and as such you are learning a valuable self help tool to aid you in making other changes in your life.  Some might say that &#8220;self help&#8221; is an oxymoron if you are actually seeing a therapist, reading books, going on self improvement courses.  Any help that helps your inner self is of benefit but as long as you gaining benefit.  We can be logical about the way the negative way we behave and have what psychiatrists term &#8220;insight&#8221; i.e. a good understanding but this does not solve the problem or deal with the symptoms you fee.  Why not?  Because the hurt to the inner self did not happen on a logical basis &#8211; if it did we would not have any problems.</p>
<p>Self help is about healing, letting go of negativity, release guilt.  What is the underlying symptom you feel?  This can take a little while to untangle as over the years you have added to it.  With hypnotherapy we must have a focus &#8211; a solution to work towards.  One change at a time is necessary and important because the subconscious mind can only deal with one change at a time.  Take the time to explore hypnosis to see how it can help with your self help actions.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I read in Dublin&#8217;s Metro newspaper that the Oxytocin, a hormone that women produce in labour, is being seen as a salvation for those suffering from shyness.  While it therapy it sounds better than self medicating with alchohol and its disastrous effects, wouldn&#8217;t it be better to learn how to control the symptoms from inside instead of relying on something external.  The problem comes from inside and hypnotherapy can help you regain control of the symptoms which to now have been controlling and dominating one&#8217;s life in the form of chronic shyness, blushing, sweating profusely, nervousness, shaking.  Imagine the empowerment it would give you by reprogramming your mind, as you would your computer, to manage shyness, learning to even overcome.  Hypnotherapy helps you to uncover the reason for your shyness and then we look to your future as being confident and happy.  By using hypnotherapy which is solution focused a short sharp course (no more than 10 &#8211; 12 sessions) can release you from the shyness you experience. </p>
<p><em>Exercise:  Please read through first.</em> </p>
<ul>
<li>Close your eyes for a few moments;</li>
<li>Imagine what life would be like for you to feel comfortable in a group situation whether it is with friends or strangers or both. </li>
<li>Add as much detail as possible &#8211; hear the sounds, smell the smells and see the pictures.  Add movement &#8211; make it as though you are watching a movie/video.</li>
<li>You are feeling comfortable, your hands are dry, your stomach is at ease, your heart beats at a normal rhythm, your face is pale.  Feels good, doesn&#8217;t it?</li>
<li>You are enjoying yourself, feeling comfortable and relaxed. </li>
<li>Notice where in your body you feel this good feeling &#8211; is it your head, your chest, your stomach (there is no right or wrong answer) and give it a shape and colour.  Make it bigger and brighter so it fills your whole body.  Feeling wonderful.</li>
<li>Now open your eyes.</li>
<li>How great are your feeling right now and you did this by yourself.</li>
</ul>
<p>Using hypnotherapy you can learn relaxation techniques and practice visualisation exercises.  The therapy part helps to recall the times when you &#8220;learned&#8221; to be shy and withdrawing from groups.  Then I help you to re-learn a new way of behaving. </p>
<p>So to overcome shyness and gain confidence and be comfortable in yourself, think about hypnotherapy and the results will speak for themselves.</p>
