Panic and anxiety give you a feeling of a loss of control. But the fear has a purpose, it has a positive intent whether it is to make you avoid situations that may (in your subconscious mind) cause you distress. But living a life of avoidance is not living, it is just existing and from this place, fear rules your life. But remember it is your mind and your body and you can control it. With hypnotherapy you are the making the changes within it. Hypnosis, a relaxation in itself, allows you to become aware of inner resources that have been dormant or new resources that you can tap into. Fear is about “anticipation” of something bad happening and you will be aware that once this idea takes hold, then the thoughts and body react as though it is reality.

So if you are tired of living to experience panic and anxiety attacks, experience hypnotherapy where you can tap into the subconscious mind so that you gain control of your mind and body.

No doubt your panic/anxiety attacks are caused by ANTs (Abstract Negative Thinking). These negative thoughts have you feeling the full effects before any event actually happens. I am reminded of a saying “s/he who suffers before it is necessary, suffers more than is necessary”. Your mind does not know the difference between what is real or imagined so suffers (if negative thinking) or performs well (if positive thinking). You can bring on a panic attack at will – you know you can, you just have to think negatively enough but what if you could change your focus and with hypnotherapy re-wire your mind to a more positive mindset – what difference would that make to your life. What do your panic attacks give you – do they keep you safe – you never try so you never get disappointed or do you get sympathy from a source that might otherwise ignore you. You must be getting something from the panic attacks otherwise they would not be present. So what need is your panic attack fulfilling and can it be got from a more positive behaviour. To overcome panic attacks we have find the reason for them. With hypnotherapy we are working at a subconscious mind level – you are fully in control at all times – and in this way, if you really want to, you can move forward and be free from panic attacks.

If you want to make the change and become free from panic or anxiety attacks call me on 086 1038892 or email zita@zitastanley.com. Appointment at 15 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 2.

Dublin 2.

How can you learn to control the feelings of anxiety and panic so that initially you can reverse any symptoms of heart beating fast, body sweating or trembling, clammy palms and the feeling of dissociation that can accompany talking too fast in an effort to get it over with as soon as possible. If you want a solution let hypnosis help you. Hypnosis is a focused relaxation with your mind focusing on what you want, not on what you don’t want. So you want to feel more relaxed and comfortable – when you start to think of “relax” and “comfortable” your subconscious mind thinks what does this mean to you – and so you start to feel more relaxed and comfortable. As is usual with panic and anxiety feelings, you become focused on not getting panicky but the subconscious mind does not recognise the word “not” so all it is hears is the instruction to panic and then you become even more panicky. Your fear or the thinkings of what could happen are far stronger than the reality. When we feel threatened we go into fight or flight mode and the body tightens up and when this happens, the heart beats faster, digestive slows (dry mouth) as all energy is pushed to the arms and legs (to fight or run away) and the rigidness of the body is the adrenaline rush to give power to the arms and legs so to reverse this you must think about the positive opposite you want – relaxed body, heart beating slower, mouth moist. With hypnotic training you are learning to access your subconscious and reprogramme your reactions so that you never feel that loss of control again. For help in Dublin, Limerick and Laois call 086 1038892 or email zita@zitastanley.com

If you suffer from panic and anxiety attacks, you probably find yourself worrying about future situations and when you worry, you set off a chain of signals inside your body to encourage this anxiety and panic. So essentially you are “working yourself up” into a nervous wreck. With hypnopsychotherapy (or hypno-pyschotherapy) we look for the event that caused you to feel panic and which moulded your thoughts, because that is what it is – your thoughts are making you panic. We have a built in radar to determine if we are under threat, this is our natural fight or flight syndrome. This is perfectly normal and is designed to protect but when anxiety attaches to the fear, then a phobia or anxiety provoking thoughts encourage the fear. The beauty of hypnotherapy is that it is solution focused and we can reprogramme your mind so that you think differently. The reason for your anxiety and panic is inside your subconscious and only your subconscious mind can release the panic and anxiety.

Panic attacks can result sometimes result in agoraphobia which is not necessarily being housebound but an avoidance of crowds or situations where escape is not readily available. Continue reading →

Agoraphobia means a fear of open spaces but in reality it is a fear of panic attacks and also what other people will think if the sufferer has a panic attack. Rather than just being afraid to go out, people suffering from agoraphobia may fear public places, shopping centre, public transport, being enclosed. The underlying fear is not having an escape. A companion may have to be present to function at all. The limits this puts on your life no doubt causes you to feel down and depressed. You are “inside” your head all the time, the same pattern of thoughts playing on repeat, round and round the thoughts go with no let up for you. With hypnosis, you learn to coping strategies for the panic attacks, a desensitisation process is done at the session and a CD to play at home to re-enforce the work we have done at the session is given. It is not a case of one session and you are “cured” – it is about giving you better coping strategies and easing you into situations which previously panicked you. This is done initially in the comfort of the office with your imagination and you practice in your mind at home so that the image of you as you want to be becomes programmed into your mind.
