Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy - How to overcome unwanted habits

With the past it is not the event itself that triggers the unwanted response/habit, it is the meaning we attribute to the event that gives it significance.  for example, when I think of my grandmother, I’m immediately transported to the smell of freshly baked bread and I’m in her kitchen, remembering the love and warmth of it - not the actual technique of making the bread!  When you can see the difference, that’s when we get change happening.

I’ll leave with a quote that I have used before:

“if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got”.

Hypnosis Blushing, Confidence, Anxiety, Stress Management etc.

At the basics of hypnosis and hypnotherapy is to take what works for you and make it better so that the positive outweighs the negative, your thinking process is engaged towards solutions rather than possible problems, you are practical with regard to worrying, you manage stress adequately, concentrate on a pale face so you stop blushing, you act confidence physically and the internal confidence builds inside you.  What happens, one day comes and you haven’t had to think about the steps necessary to stop blushing, stop smoking etc.  Your mind automaticallly (and that is your subconscious mind) goes to positive thoughts.  We all have something that works for us deep down inside.  We have forgotten it.  You have over the years trained your mind to automatically think the worst and this causes anxiety.  Why does it cause anxiety?  Because it is not really who you are.  We should always strive to be better, to push ourselves out of the comfort zone, to see opportunity.  Take what you have that works at any level and build on that so that it thrives with good thoughts, perhaps training or practicing whatever it takes to get it better.

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is therapy carried out under hypnosis which essentially allows you to make change very quickly. The focus is the one change you wish to make in your life and a short, concise and focused therapy to help you build your self reliance. You gain the opportunity to harness the new and re-ignited skills within yourself in the future. It is about raising your self belief that you can be stop smoking, lose weight, get the great job you want, have a family, find a partner, overcome depression and anxiety, stop blushing or whatever change you wish to make.

You must want to make the change and believe that change for you is possible - you don’t have to believe in the process but be open minded. Expect positive change and look forward to positive change! Take a moment right now to write down goals for each area of your life - let’s face it, if you were content as you are now you wouldn’t be reading this. Write down the categories - lifestyle, health, family, relationships, financial, educational - whatever areas are in your life. Then list the goals or aspirations you have in each category. Now the most important is to timeline them so you see at a glance what the most pressing issue is for you. Hypnosis is great to help clarify our thoughts and organize the areas in your life.

Then set out the tasks you need to take to make each goal a reality - do you have to connect with someone, do you have do a course, do you have _________? Again set out a to-do list with these. Remember the day is not over until you can tick off everything on your life. Life being life, no doubt you may be thrown a curve ball but re-arrange the timeline - it’s not set in stone but don’t let things slide because of laziness.

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What would you change about your life, about you?

Perhaps you really don’t know – it’s too big a question that your mind really can’t take it on board. Give it time. Mull it over. Write a list and like Santa check it twice and then again. Re-arrange and re-edit. Then when you think that is it – how can you achieve it? What steps need to be taken? Break it into categories, time line them. Remember it is this or something better.

Remember when you were a child – what did you want to be? I bet there were no boundaries, no limits. The world was your oyster. I wanted to be a showjumper, the fact that I couldn’t ride never entered my mind!

When did it change? When did you learn to short-change yourself? What is learned can be unlearned  using hypnosis to re-programme your mind.  People change and wants change. But as adults we limit ourselves, we set up imaginary boundaries. Some of it has to do with circumstance, with our self talk, perhaps getting too many knocks in a row that you can’t raise your head to look up. If you walk around with your head down, how are you ever going to move upwards mentally and physically?

A small question in terms of words but the answer may not be easy to give. The answer may help to clarify why you are unhappy now – because you are not living to your full potential. We get one life and no matter how long you live death is forever. Isn’t it worth taking a few minutes each day to think about what you really want? This exercise is not about making yourself miserable because you can’t achieve whatever the dream is – it is about making changes within yourself with regard to your attention and behaviour to make positive changes. It is about being responsible but taking steps to ensure that this the life you really want to live.

Hynosis Baby!

My Own Story

On the 14th July 2005 I was privileged to have my third baby using hypnosis. My previous deliveries had been with epidurals - with vastly different experiences. My first delivery required a top-up of epidural. I was of no help in the process as I was numb from the belly down and felt like something from the Muppet Show with someone throwing my legs here and there. The midwife would say “push”, as I was numb I had no concept of pushing. After a definitely laboured labour (really I did nothing and felt nothing) my little boy was born into brightness. A bright lovely, healthy boy who continues to be bright with a wonderful disposition.
My second delivery took place at around 2 am. The delivery was moving along very fast with no time for the epidural to work. I was like a wounded animal, flaying around the bed, I had no idea of how to deal with the pain and to all intents and purposes I was a wild animal. I was told by staff to “shh..” - there I was aged 36 being told to “shh..” My little girl was born into very bright lights, the neo-natal doctor was called because my baby was in distress yet I was not told. What a traumatic entry for a little baby! I believe she still hasn’t forgiven me for her abrupt entry into the world.
By the time my third baby was to arrive, I had qualified as a hypnotherapist and was delighted to be able to put “my money where my mouth was”. What a transformation, I was like a serene goddess. Breathing and working with my body. Remember, I told myself, each contraction is a step closer to seeing my little baby. She had experienced hypnosis before as I was practicing throughout my pregnancy and what a wonderful experience for her. My midwife was a dream. With lights down low (again it was another middle of the night job!), quietness and serenity prevailed.
I viewed the contractions like an athlete. The contraction was my hill I had to climb which would peak and then I could free wheel! I had trained myself to go deep into trance between contractions to build up my energy. So much so, I was almost asleep in the 30 seconds between contractions.
Then, there was a change, this last contraction was not abating, the pain changed and was so intense. It took all my reserves as well as positive encouragement from my midwife and husband. Then, I felt my baby’s head crowning - EUREKA! Now I know how this works and stayed with my push as I felt her ease her way out into this world.
Out she came, my beautiful hypnosis baby!
She is the most placid, sweetest little girl which I believe is down to her time inside me being relaxed with hypnosis and then her delivery was perfect everything I could have wished for her and myself. For all you mothers out there, she was the largest of my three babies - weighing in at 8lbs 13 (I’m 5ft 2ins).
Three weeks later I was back in my regular clothes (which had never happened with the others). All thanks to hypnosis.
