			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Another new year beckons and your thoughts will turn to New Year&#8217;s Resolutions?  No doubt they will consist of &#8211; taking more exercise, stop smoking, lose weight, stop biting my nails, be more assertive, be more confident.  Too many resolutions means failure in all them. Why? Because your subconscious mind can only deal with one change at a time. It is better to pick just one area and set goals in this area. Most people take more time to plan their holidays than they do to plan what they want to achieve for next month, the next year. How about you &#8211; what do you want?<br />
How are you going to achieve your goals?<br />
Let&#8217;s break them down:<br />
Set goals for every area of your life &#8211; personal, business/career, spiritual, family etc;<br />
Give each goal a time frame;<br />
Choose the ones with shorter deadlines &#8211; break each one down &#8211; how will you achieve it;<br />
Remember, your goals must be flexible and adaptable &#8211; perhaps what you thought you wanted changes or one may overtake another.<br />
Read your goals each night before going to sleep;<br />
Read your goals first thing in the morning;<br />
Revise your goals if necessary;<br />
Always remember your goals and what you want to achieve.</p>
<p>Create a scene as you fall asleep as if the goals had been achieved, what is your life like, what are you like?<br />
If you want to go somewhere, you need a route otherwise you are just aimless. While being aimless can be fun for a while it does not achieve in the long run.<br />
So plan your route, make whatever revisions you need to and achieve your goals.<br />
Hypnosis is a wonderful tool to help you focus and clarify your mind &#8211; to clear the mind and get it set on what you want.  Thoughts are all very well and good but it is the thought plus feeling that creates the impetus to action your goals.  If you really want something you can make it happen, it all depends on how strongly you believe in your goal.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">All focus (or so it seems) is on you &#8211; you feel your face going red, your heart beating as though it is about to jump out your chest (or your mouth), sweating palms, you begin to dissociate, your mouth becomes dry or stops working and you feel as though you are slurring your words.  Does this seem familiar?  You are not alone.  Every dealing with more than one person is an ordeal you anticipate. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">What begins to happen is that you anticipate the above happening and you set the image in your mind of being uncomfortable and feeling very nervous and anxiety and hey presto, that is exactly what happens.  And so the vicious circle continues&#8230;.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Your mind does not know the difference between what is real or what is imagined &#8211; you set the standard and it follows suit &#8211; after all, it is only doing what you expect.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">What would life be like for you if you could reverse the symptoms and actually only feel normal anticipation (say for giving a presentation)?<span> </span>What would that mean to you?<span> </span>Is it something you have ever thought about?<span> </span>We will all say I “don’t want….” but the subconscious does not recognise the word “not” so in effect you are saying “I want to feel anxious” without realising it!<span> </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">So, I want you to make a list to answer the above questions and each answer is to start with “I want to feel…I want to be….” with a positive statement.<span> </span>Hypnosis helps by accessing the subconscious and using relaxation and visualisation techniques to overcome each symptom and learn to re-wind it as it were.<span> </span>Sometimes we can be so caught up in the negative that we do not know how to be positive and therefore put up obstacles. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Hypnosis can help re-enforce the behavioural changes necessary to overcome anxiety whatever the type of anxiety you suffer from. No matter how logically you work out your anxiety it is not going to change unless you access your powerhouse of emotion – the subconscious mind.<span> </span>Therapy is required for moderate to severe cases to uncover the precipitating event and gain closure.<span> </span>For presentation confidence, suggestion therapy will usually be sufficient (i.e. just dealing with the symptoms).<span> </span>With hypnosis we access the subconscious mind and reprogramme the old way of behaving so that the new ways are acceptable.<span> </span>In this way, we create a positive scenario.<span> </span>This isn’t easy as the sufferer you are used to behaving a certain way.<span> </span>What will your life be like with your new found relaxed way of dealing with situations that used to previously caused you so much pain both mentally and physically?<span> </span>How will people react to you now?<span> </span>Creating change is never easy but it will be worth it – do you really want to live you life in fear/panic?<span> </span>Do you want this anxiety to make you socially isolated?<span> </span>I don’t think so.<span> </span>But there is no magic cure and it takes time and effort on your part.<span> </span>Are you ready to make the change from panic to relaxation?</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The feelings of panic are familiar to you.  When do they start?  When you book a flight, pack, get to the airport, board the plane?  Everyone is different and the feelings of anxiety will occur at different stages but what is common is the out of control feelings, the nausea, the sweaty palms, the palpitations, the anxiety &#8211; all occur to varying degrees.  Some of you, no doubt, will have used alcohol, drugs (prescription and/or recreational) to cure the problem but nothing helps.  In fact, you may have to deal with the feelings of a hang-over, disorientation and general unwellness.  What is happening is that you recognise there is a problem and now perhaps the things you used to self medicate begins earlier and earlies and so you are enjoying less and less of your holidays.  Holidays can be stressful enough (delayed flights, perhaps tired children etc)  without having the added anxiety of a fear of flying.</p>
<p>Hypnosis helps by showing you how to control the panic attack/anxiety/unease so that you &#8220;learn&#8221; to become more relaxed when flying.  Loss of control is a common thread &#8211; if you are on a boat and it starts to sink, you can swim to safety (whether or not you can swim is irrelevant to your subconscious mind!) but what happens with flying?  Part of the hypnotic process is to allay your fears and to relinquish the part of you that likes to be in control so that you learn to trust the engineers, pilots etc who work behind the scenes to ensure your safety.  Pilots undergo rigourous checks every 6 months to ensure they ability to pilot a plane.  There are aviation rules to ensure your safety.</p>
<p>While your subconscious mind accepts that there are rules for your safety, then we turn to your inner turmoil &#8211; reversing the feelings.  You will experience the feelings of panic/anxiety/unease that you normall feel &#8211; this is necessary to prove to yourself that hey, I can manage and reverse these feelings.  It is a process and you will find the each flight gets a little bit easier for you so that you can, dare I say it, look forward to flying!</p>
<p>Why suffer and ruin holidays or work travel for yourself?  Hypnosis is a marvellous tool and can help you to overcome the feelings that you so that you regain control of you.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Your emotions are not who you are, they are a component that you control so take control of your flying anxiety (hypnosis makes it easier) and make flying a pleasure for you. As mentioned, you cannot do this for others you have to want to make the change.</span></p>

The focus is the one change you wish to make in your life and a short, concise and focused therapy to help you build your self reliance.  You gain the opportunity to harness the new and re-ignited skills within yourself in the future.  It is about raising your self belief that you can be stop smoking, lose weight, get the great job you want, have a family, find a partner, overcome depression and anxiety, stop blushing or whatever change you wish to make.</p>
<p>You must want to make the change and believe that change for you is possible &#8211; you don&#8217;t have to believe in the process but be open minded.  Expect positive change and look forward to positive change!  Take a moment right now to write down goals for each area of your life &#8211; let&#8217;s face it, if you were content as you are now you wouldn&#8217;t be reading this.  Write down the categories &#8211; lifestyle, health, family, relationships, financial, educational &#8211; whatever areas are in your life.  Then list the goals or aspirations you have in each category.  Now the most important is to timeline them so you see at a glance what the most pressing issue is for you.  Hypnosis is great to help clarify our thoughts and organize the areas in your life.</p>
<p>Then set out the tasks you need to take to make each goal a reality &#8211; do you have to connect with someone, do you have do a course, do you have _________?  Again set out a to-do list with these.  Remember the day is not over until you can tick off everything on your life.  Life being life, no doubt you may be thrown a curve ball but re-arrange the timeline &#8211; it&#8217;s not set in stone but don&#8217;t let things slide because of laziness.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy.  I am a solution focused hypnotherapist/psychotherapist i.e. you have goal to achieve and during therapy, my job is to keep you on track to achieving your goal.  Hypnosis is not therapy, the therapy is carried out using hypnosis to access the subconscious mind quickly to affect the change you want.  It is about looking to the future, a bright, positive future.  We can look back all we want but we cannot change it but we can change the future.  How?  We need to look back briefly with hypnotherapy to identify patterns of behaviour and understand why we behaved/acted that way and then we re-programme your subconscious mind to learn new, better, more positive ways of behaving in a way that is comfortable and acceptable to your subconscious mind.</p>
<p>Why do I write about the subconscious mind?  Because that is where we need to go &#8211; it is the powerhouse, the storehouse (whatever you wish to call it) of your thoughts, memories, behavioural patterns, the reason why you are as you are.  The conscious mind deals with logic and can handle between 3-5 thoughts at any one time.  The subconscious mind does everything else! Isn&#8217;t that amazing.  This is why we can reason with ourselves until the cows come home or the moon turns blue and it won&#8217;t make any difference unless the subconscious mind is accessed.</p>
<p>No two people will ever have the same reason for changing something about themselves.  Sure, my clients who come will always mention &#8220;health&#8221; as their motivating factor to stop smoking.  And I always ask &#8220;what is it in particular about health that is important to you&#8221;.  After all if it was that simple then no-one would smoke.  My job is get down to the nitty-gritty of helping you find out why you want to stop now &#8211; you may not be consciously aware of why now. </p>
<p>My parting thought for today is &#8211; whatever change you want to make and hypnotherapy can assist you &#8211; YOU have to WANT to CHANGE for yourself.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%"><span style="font-weight: normal">Have you ever lost yourself in a good book?<span> </span>Have you ever driven home and not remembered the actual journey? <span></span>Have you day-dreamed?<span> That&#8217;</span>s hypnosis.<span>  </span>Hypnosis is a state of intense concentration and in a clinical setting the concentration is on relaxation.<span>  </span>Hypnosis is an individual experience.<span>  </span>The most common experience of feeling very relaxed it may be the first time your mind and body can relax together in harmony.<span>  </span>When you are nicely relaxed, the conscious mind drifts off allowing the subconscious mind to open up.<span>  </span>In this state, well worded positive suggestions are given to undo a bad habit and create a good habit.  <span></span>When a habit is removed it must always be replaced with something more positive, more beneficial for you.</span><span>  </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%"><span style="font-weight: normal" lang="EN-IE">The subconscious can only accept one change at a time so it is important to be specific and focused on just one area at a time.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText2">In hypnosis you can choose to change or re-create your perceptions and beliefs of yourself to create a reality by choice, not mere acceptance of what you think you must believe and accept.<span> </span>Habits are conditioned responses.<span></span>  What is learned can be unlearned and what is programmed can be reprogrammed.  <span></span>That is all that is happening, as a hypnotherapist, I  assist the client in devising another way of doing or acting or saying.<span lang="EN-IE"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%"><span lang="EN-IE">Fears and Misconceptions?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
