Hypnosis cannot offer a cure for blushing. Blushing is a psychological phenomenon. Your thoughts cause you to blush and the association of blushing, for example, when being the centre of attention is encoded into your subconscious mind. In any situation which you anticipate being the centre of attention, at a meeting or presentation, your subconscious will encourage you to blush in an effort to avoid being the centre of attention (perceived as being bad because it causes you emotional distress). Added to this, your conscious mind is fueling the blushing with thoughts of “stop blushing” or “don’t blush” because the subconscious mind does recognise the words stop or don’t – it thinks you want to blush. So how do you solve the problem of blushing if there is no cure. While in hypnosis, which is a relaxed state, you can access your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is open to change as long as it is for your benefit so your thoughts must focus on how great it will be for your face to be pale and the difference it would make to you, not having to anticipate the blushing. It is about you learning when you feel uncomfortable and how to reverse the sequence of signals that lead to blushing and the other symptoms you may suffer, the sweating, heart palpitations, mind cloudiness. You are going to be amazed at the difference hypnosis is going to make to you, the confidence, the peace of mind, the calmness, the ability to take things in your stride.
