You are very familiar with the expectation and the anticipation of blushing while you are waiting your turn to speak, you cannot focus on what is going on before your turn, you may dissociate and it is as though your heart wants to jump out of your chest. While you think you can manage that, there is a more obvious signal to others that you are uncomfortable – the blushing. You can feel as though the heat alone would power the lighting for the office. Then as soon as you are done it subsides. Did you know that it is not possible to physically reproduce blushing – it is mind activated! So hypnosis can help in building your confidence, so that you take, for example, the thought of presenting, as you would any other work activity, just another job to be done – no more, no less. With hypnosis, you are learning how to interrupt the build up to the blushing, so that the blush stops developing. This can be easily done within 2 to 3 sessions (suggestion therapy) but obviously, for more chronic blushing, hypno-analysis is ideal to find the core of the blushing and remove it. That is not to say you will never blush again – moving from cold into heat or sitting very close to a hot fire will create redness in your face.
