What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What would you change about your life, about you?

Perhaps you really don’t know – it’s too big a question that your mind really can’t take it on board. Give it time. Mull it over. Write a list and like Santa check it twice and then again. Re-arrange and re-edit. Then when you think that is it – how can you achieve it? What steps need to be taken? Break it into categories, time line them. Remember it is this or something better.

Remember when you were a child – what did you want to be? I bet there were no boundaries, no limits. The world was your oyster. I wanted to be a showjumper, the fact that I couldn’t ride never entered my mind!

When did it change? When did you learn to short-change yourself? What is learned can be unlearned  using hypnosis to re-programme your mind.  People change and wants change. But as adults we limit ourselves, we set up imaginary boundaries. Some of it has to do with circumstance, with our self talk, perhaps getting too many knocks in a row that you can’t raise your head to look up. If you walk around with your head down, how are you ever going to move upwards mentally and physically?

A small question in terms of words but the answer may not be easy to give. The answer may help to clarify why you are unhappy now – because you are not living to your full potential. We get one life and no matter how long you live death is forever. Isn’t it worth taking a few minutes each day to think about what you really want? This exercise is not about making yourself miserable because you can’t achieve whatever the dream is – it is about making changes within yourself with regard to your attention and behaviour to make positive changes. It is about being responsible but taking steps to ensure that this the life you really want to live.

A tip for brightening someone’s day.

Like attracts like, feel positive and full of life and this has a domino effect on those around you. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. So for the next few days, when you answer the phone, do so with a smile - this has the immediate effect of softening your tone (have you ever tried to be cross with a smile - it doesn’t work) and make someone’s day.

Hypnosis and you.

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool for re-establishing the connection between your conscious mind and your subconscious mind. Over the years we forget that we are actually in control of our emotions and not the other way round! We have learnt to react to situations rather than act appropriately to the situation. We seem to be running around all the time. No time for this, no time for that. The net effect is a feeling of a loss of control - not seeing any way out. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy.  I am a solution focused hypnotherapist/psychotherapist i.e. you have goal to achieve and during therapy, my job is to keep you on track to achieving your goal.  Hypnosis is not therapy, the therapy is carried out using hypnosis to access the subconscious mind quickly to affect the change you want.  It is about looking to the future, a bright, positive future.  We can look back all we want but we cannot change it but we can change the future.  How?  We need to look back briefly with hypnotherapy to identify patterns of behaviour and understand why we behaved/acted that way and then we re-programme your subconscious mind to learn new, better, more positive ways of behaving in a way that is comfortable and acceptable to your subconscious mind.

Why do I write about the subconscious mind?  Because that is where we need to go - it is the powerhouse, the storehouse (whatever you wish to call it) of your thoughts, memories, behavioural patterns, the reason why you are as you are.  The conscious mind deals with logic and can handle between 3-5 thoughts at any one time.  The subconscious mind does everything else! Isn’t that amazing.  This is why we can reason with ourselves until the cows come home or the moon turns blue and it won’t make any difference unless the subconscious mind is accessed.

No two people will ever have the same reason for changing something about themselves.  Sure, my clients who come will always mention “health” as their motivating factor to stop smoking.  And I always ask “what is it in particular about health that is important to you”.  After all if it was that simple then no-one would smoke.  My job is get down to the nitty-gritty of helping you find out why you want to stop now - you may not be consciously aware of why now.

Hypnosis for Childbirth

What woman doesn’t dream of her baby being born into a calm, relaxed environment? This dream can be a reality using hypnosis for childbirth. You can achieve the birth you want for you baby by using the power of your own mind to control the pain so it is manageable for you as you work with your body to deliver the baby.

 

There is a reason why birthing pains are called “labour” – you have to work at it and look what you are getting in return. It may be the hardest day’s work you will ever do! Think of how amazing your body is to push your baby gently down the birth canal while your cervix softens in preparation for your baby’s arrival into the world!

Benefits of using hypnosis as a pain relief method is that you can have a drug free birth so no side effects for baby. It significantly shortens labour as you work with your body. When we feel pain our initial reaction is to fight it and we experience anxiety which rushes through your body increasing the pain. Hypnosis works the opposite way – you are relaxed and can manage the pain as it is working for you and with you to deliver your baby. Another benefit is that the birthing environment is calm and relaxed. The feeling of empowerment as your baby is delivered is indescribable.

Hypnosis allows you to eliminate the fear, stress and anxiety associated with giving birth. You get the birth you want. Natural childbirth does not have to be painful. Isn’t that wonderful?

Anxiety - Hypnosis Helps

All focus (or so it seems) is on you - you feel your face going red, your heart beating as though it is about to jump out your chest (or your mouth), sweating palms, you begin to dissociate, you mouth stops working and you feel as though you are slurring your words.  Do this seem familiar?  You are not alone.  Every dealing with more than one person is an ordeal you anticipate.

What begins to happen is that you anticipate the above happening and you set the image in your mind of being uncomfortable and feeling very nervous and anxiety and hey presto, that is exactly what happens.  And so the vicious circle continues….

Your mind does not know the difference between what is real or what is imagined - you set the standard and it follows suit - after all, it is only doing what you expect.

Lose the fear of flying with hypnosis

It’s holiday time again. Do you feel panic and fear – oh no, holiday time? If you suffer from aviophobia or fear of flying you really do feel miserable. Every year are you forced to bear the anxiety of packing a bag for the sake of a family holiday or are you left behind while your family jets off to the sun? Perhaps you have to fly for work reasons. In most cases (yes, you read correctly most), the fear/anxiety has nothing to do with flying – it’s just that the anxiety of, perhaps, a break-up or food poisoning and then flying superimposed this anxiety onto flying so that the next time one was flying their subconscious mind recalled the upset of the previous flight and thereby a fear of flying was born. Remember the subconscious mind’s raison d’etre is to protect you but it only has the logic of a 6 year old child so is not exactly informed. Here is what happens – you subconscious mind remembers you being upset, nervous and anxious and will associate this with the flight (this is how it is recorded into your subconscious mind files) so the next time you think about flying, your subconscious flicks through its files “flying = sick, nervousness, upset, anxiety, _________ “- you fill in the blank. And so you feel you have a fear of flying and each time you think about it, the anxiety just grows and grows inside you.

Your emotions are not who you are, they are a component that you control so take control of your flying anxiety (hypnosis makes it easier) and make flying a pleasure for you. As mentioned, you cannot do this for others you have to want to make the change.

Hypnosis for Laser Focus

Get over fear of flying - use hypnosis for a relaxed flying experience.

It’s holiday time again. Do you suffer from aviophobia? Every year are you forced to bear the anxiety of packing a bag for the sake of family holidays or indeed, are you left behind while your loved ones jet off and leave you behind?
