New Year’s Resolutions!
It is that time of year again when we look back at 2007 and look forward to wonderful changes in 2008. We make our list - stop smoking, lose weight, join the gym, look for a new job, look for a promotion, look for more money etc. What’s on your list. What happens - New Year’s Eve is full of great of intentions, then New Year’s Day dawns - more than likely you are perhaps a little worse for wear and you need a fry - there goes the diet on the very first day of the 2008. You light up automatically - well, let’s not waste the new box of cigarettes that you bought last night. Where’s the gym - sign up, pay your money and then comes February - not exactly seeing results fast enough - why bother.
Shall we explore what’s happening - you are trying to make too many changes together which boggles the mind so it sabotages your efforts. Why not plan a change for each month instead - January (always a poor month) get your finances in order. Determine if you’re worth it. February start walking before you hand over your money to a gym - is the gym a place for you. March - get ready for summer, watch what you are eating. April - Spring is in the air, still cold but more light and enjoying your walks or little runs. Get ready for a mini-marathan and raise money for charity. June - what change would you like to make for yourself…..
Can you see a pattern emerging? Break down what changes you want to make and make them fit into the calender. Do your really see yourself eating salads in the bleak days of January? And the beauty of this method is that by the time you reach this time next year you are slimmer and fitter, in a much better place physically and mentally so that you really have no major change to make.
